Broadcast journalist and communications practitioner Gordon Asare-Bediako has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), subject to due process and the announcement of the party’s internal electoral timelines.
In a public statement issued to mark the beginning of the year, Mr. Asare-Bediako said his decision follows careful reflection and extensive consultations with party members, sympathisers, and other key stakeholders who have encouraged him to step forward.
“As we enter a new year marked by renewed responsibility and democratic commitment, I wish to formally state my readiness, in principle and subject to due process, to contest for the position of Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party,” he stated.
According to him, the move is driven by the growing need to strengthen and modernise the party’s communication architecture, particularly in an era characterised by misinformation, intense political competition, and evolving media dynamics.
Mr. Asare-Bediako brings to the table a background in broadcasting, writing, and strategic communications, complemented by formal training in Political Science, Marketing, Strategic Communication, and Branding. He noted that these experiences have shaped his understanding of the central role effective communication plays in deepening engagement between the party and the Ghanaian public.
“Disciplined, credible, and forward-looking communication is essential in articulating the NPP’s vision for national development and in countering misinformation,” he said.
He further expressed readiness to serve the party and the country, should he be given the opportunity.
“I stand prepared to offer my service in the collective interest of the Party and the Republic,” the statement added.
The New Patriotic Party is yet to officially announce timelines and modalities for its internal elections, including the position of Communications Director.
