Lawyer Charles Asmah, widely known as Lawyer Oboanipa, has unveiled a comprehensive vision to transform the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK Branch as he campaigns for the position of 1st Vice Chairman.
Addressing members at a meeting of the West London Chapter, Lawyer Asmah highlighted his track record as Branch Treasurer, pointing to what he described as prudent financial management and accountability during his tenure.
“I have served this Branch diligently as Treasurer, ensuring discipline and transparency in our finances. I am ready to take on greater responsibility and continue serving with integrity,” he said.
He underscored that his leadership approach is guided by Professionalism, Action, Consistency and Excellence (PACE), which he believes will drive growth and strengthen the Party’s operations in the diaspora.
With a background spanning academia, accounting, and law, and over 20 years of active political engagement, Lawyer Asmah outlined a six-point agenda aimed at repositioning the NPP UK Branch.
Central to his proposal is the creation of a Policy Innovation Platform, intended to function as a think tank that will generate practical, solution-oriented ideas for Ghana’s development while also creating potential revenue streams for the Branch.
He also proposed quarterly engagement sessions with the Council of Elders, Branch executives, and Chapter leaders to promote guidance, accountability, and strategic alignment. “We must create structured platforms for reflection and collective decision-making,” he noted.
On resource mobilisation, he announced plans to establish a Diaspora Party Working Group (DiPWoG) to coordinate fundraising and strengthen collaboration with other international branches. The initiative will focus on mobilising skills, logistics, and financial support for the Party.
To improve member welfare, Lawyer Asmah pledged to develop a Resource Bank, a centralized database that will provide members with access to job opportunities, training, legal and financial services, and business support.
Youth development also features prominently in his agenda. Through a proposed initiative dubbed “Gateway for Tomorrow,” he aims to mentor young leaders, support TESCON members, and help young professionals within the Branch prepare for future career opportunities.
Additionally, he called for greater inclusivity and internal democracy, advocating for Chapter Executives to be granted voting rights during party primaries through engagement with the National Party’s International Affairs Directorate.
Lawyer Asmah concluded by urging members to support his candidacy, stating that his leadership would bring “progress, inclusivity, and prosperity” to the NPP UK Branch.
