Bawumia’s Rising Popularity Within NPP Attributed to Temperament and Resilience — Prince Kwadwo Osei

Prince Kwadwo Osei, Chairman One in Town of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Birmingham Chapter, has attributed the rising popularity of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia within the NPP to his composure, emotional intelligence, and measured response to internal political hostility.

According to Mr. Osei, observations from recent party activities and campaign events indicate a gradual but noticeable shift in delegate support toward Dr. Bawumia.

“From afar, one can analyse the various campaigns and the faces of individual attendees and extrapolate how, gradually, delegates appear to be switching allegiance and believing in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he stated. “The affection, affinity, love, and conviction on display seem real, assured, and organic.”

Mr. Osei noted that Dr. Bawumia’s ability to withstand provocation without engaging in confrontational politics has significantly enhanced his standing among party delegates.

“Many are drawing closer to him because of his sheer tenacity and his ability to stomach provocation,” he said. “Despite extreme hostility, he remains largely unconcerned, composed, and focused.”

He further argued that negative attacks directed at the Vice President may be backfiring, inadvertently strengthening his appeal.

“I am inclined to deduce that the negative attributions being pushed against Dr. Bawumia are causing many delegates to reassess their perspectives,” Mr. Osei explained. “Ironically, these negatives are being converted into positives in his favour.”

Drawing from strategic analysis, Mr. Osei suggested that the situation reflects how threats can be transformed into opportunities.

“In practical terms, one could say the application of the TOWS Matrix is aiding Dr. Bawumia’s popularity, as hostility is being leveraged into political capital,” he added.

Mr. Osei also criticised what he described as entitlement and antagonistic campaigning within the party, warning that delegates are increasingly rejecting such approaches.

“Those who play the victim while turning Dr. Bawumia into a villain are, in reality, the direct opposite,” he said. “Delegates appear ready to punish entitlement and politics rooted in threats, maligning, and cultivated speeches of hatred.”

He concluded that Dr. Bawumia’s appeal cuts across internal party divisions.

“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia transcends boundaries within the NPP,” Mr. Osei stated. “His love within the party continues to grow because of his measured temperament, emotional intelligence, and consistent conduct of civility.”
