The High Court has ordered the freezing of five bank accounts and four landed properties belonging to former Executive Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Coordinating Committee on Decentralisation (IMCCoD), Dennis Miracles Aboagye, as investigations by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) continue.
The order, issued on Monday, August 3, bars any transactions involving the identified bank accounts and prohibits the sale, transfer, mortgage or disposal of the four properties until further orders of the court.
The preservation order forms part of EOCO’s ongoing investigation into alleged financial and procurement-related irregularities involving approximately GH¢55 million during Aboagye’s tenure at the IMCCoD.
According to EOCO, investigators are examining financial transactions and procurement processes undertaken during the period to determine whether any financial impropriety occurred.
Under Ghanaian law, investigative agencies such as EOCO may seek preservation orders from the courts to prevent assets suspected to be connected to economic or organised crime from being moved or disposed of while investigations are ongoing.
Dennis Miracles Aboagye has denied all allegations against him, insisting he has committed no wrongdoing.
He has been granted bail in the sum of GH¢50 million with three sureties, pending the outcome of the investigations.
The asset freeze remains an interim measure and does not constitute a finding of guilt. The investigations are ongoing.
