“Resetting Ghana Goes Beyond Managing Our Issues” — Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has said that his administration’s “Reset Ghana” agenda goes beyond managing immediate economic challenges, stressing that the focus is on transforming governance, production systems, and wealth distribution for long-term national prosperity.

Speaking during the 69th Independence Anniversary address, President Mahama explained that the reset agenda is designed to strengthen Ghana’s economic foundations while improving the quality of life for citizens.

“Resetting Ghana goes beyond simply managing our issues,” President Mahama said. “It involves transforming how we govern, how we produce, and how we share the fruits of our prosperity.”

He noted that sustainable national development requires structural reforms in key sectors of the economy, including agriculture, industry, and services.

The President said his government is committed to restoring fiscal discipline, rebuilding investor confidence, and improving economic stability.

“Over the past year, we have taken decisive steps to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, and rebuild fiscal discipline in how we manage our resources,” he stated.

President Mahama pointed to improving economic indicators, saying Ghana is gradually recovering from economic pressures.

“Inflation is declining, the local currency is stabilising, and confidence in the Ghanaian economy is gradually returning,” he said.

He added that economic transformation must be accompanied by social reforms that promote fairness and opportunity for all citizens.

“Resetting Ghana also involves resetting our values, our expectations, and the social contract between leaders and citizens,” he said.

The President stressed the importance of accountability in public service and warned that corruption remains a major obstacle to national development.

“Corruption is a cancer that erodes the very foundation of our nation. Every cedi stolen from the public purse represents opportunities lost for our people,” he added.

President Mahama further called on Ghanaians to support national development efforts by embracing discipline, patriotism, and hard work.

“Ghana is bigger than any one of us. Wherever you are, whatever you do, do your part with excellence for the progress of our nation,” he said.
