The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has dismissed as false and malicious a widely circulated social media publication alleging that the proprietor of Dominic Bonsu Ventures, purportedly described as a former bodyguard to the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, absconded with GH¢200 million belonging to the institution.
In a statement issued on Monday, August 3, 2026, GoldBod said the publication was deliberately intended to mislead the public and undermine confidence in its operations.
“The GoldBod wishes to state, unequivocally, that the publication is entirely false, malicious and deliberately intended to mislead the public,” the statement said.
The Board also rejected claims that Dominic Bonsu had ever served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to Mr. Gyamfi.
“Mr. Dominic Bonsu has never, at any point, served as a bodyguard or personal security officer to the Chief Executive Officer of the GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi. Any suggestion to the contrary is completely false,” it stated.
GoldBod further denied claims that it had lost or advanced GH¢200 million, or any amount of money, to Dominic Bonsu or Dominic Bonsu Ventures.
According to the Board, the facts of the matter are that Dominic Bonsu Ventures’ licence was suspended for suspected breaches of the terms and conditions of its licence, as well as the GoldBod Trading Directives, in accordance with the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140).
It said following investigations and enforcement action, Dominic Bonsu was arrested and remanded into lawful custody by the High Court in Accra, where he remains subject to ongoing legal proceedings.
GoldBod expressed concern over what it described as the deliberate publication of falsehoods aimed at distorting an ongoing enforcement action, misleading the public and eroding confidence in the institution.
“We therefore urge the public to disregard the fabricated claims and rely solely on information issued through the GoldBod’s official communication channels,” the statement said.
