Bawumia Urges NPP Communicators to Stay Resilient Amid Alleged Intimidation

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on party communicators and members to remain resolute and fearless in defending Ghana’s democracy, amid what he describes as increasing political intimidation.

The call came when a delegation of National, Regional, and Constituency Executives of the NPP from the Bono Region paid a courtesy visit to him at his residence. The group expressed appreciation for his support during the recent arrest and detention of Abubakar Yakubu, popularly known as Baba Amando.

Addressing the delegation, Dr. Bawumia delivered a strong message, condemning what he alleged to be the use of state security institutions by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to suppress dissent and curtail free speech.
“Ghana’s democratic credentials are under attack. Freedom of expression is being sacrificed for political convenience,” he stated.

He urged NPP communicators to remain firm, bold, and committed to truth, emphasizing the need to hold government accountable without fear or favour.

“The intimidation can never break us,” Dr. Bawumia added, encouraging party members to stay fact-driven in their engagements.

Leading the delegation, the NPP National Organizer, Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), thanked Dr. Bawumia for his warm reception and reaffirmed the party’s determination to withstand what he described as intimidation under the John Mahama administration.

Meanwhile, the NPP in the Sunyani East Constituency has announced plans to stage a demonstration on Wednesday, April 22, in Sunyani. The protest, dubbed the “Yensuro Ahunahuna Demo,” is intended to register the party’s opposition to what it calls government-sponsored attacks on free speech and democratic principles.
