England-born Ghanaian forward Gideon Kodua has completed a permanent move to Luton Town in the English League One following an impressive loan spell with the club.
The Hatters confirmed the signing at the close of the winter transfer window on Friday, after activating their option to make the deal permanent from West Ham United. The transfer is subject to approval from the English Football League (EFL).
In an official statement, the club expressed delight at securing the young forward’s services.
“We are excited to confirm that Luton Town Football Club has triggered its option to transfer Gideon Kodua from West Ham on a permanent basis, subject to EFL approval.
Everyone at the Club will be buoyed by this news ahead of Saturday’s home game with Bradford City, which kicks off at 12:31pm as part of the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Every Minute Matters’ campaign.”
Kodua attracted the attention of Luton Town’s technical team following his standout performances during his loan spell. The 21-year-old forward is regarded as a promising talent and his permanent stay is expected to provide him with stability and a clearer pathway to regular first-team football.
During his time on loan, Kodua made 24 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing four assists, playing a key role in Luton Town’s attacking setup.
The permanent transfer marks a significant step in Kodua’s career as he continues his development in English football while strengthening Luton Town’s squad for the remainder of the season.
