Police Arrest Three Over Obuasi Robbery Network, Link Suspects to 2025 Triple Murder

The Ashanti South Regional Police Command has arrested three persons suspected to be part of a violent robbery syndicate operating in parts of Obuasi.

The arrests were made on February 15, 2026, during an intelligence-led operation at Mangoase near Pokukrom. According to a Facebook update by the police on Thursday, February 19, officers raided multiple hideouts believed to be connected to the group.

The suspects have been identified as Aziz Abubakar, popularly known as “Romeo,” Faraway Amari, and Patient Asare.

Police say items retrieved during the operation include a pump-action shotgun with ammunition, machetes, a bayonet, combat boots, a 9mm round of ammunition, and GH¢20,000 in cash. The money is suspected to be proceeds from criminal activities.

Further investigations have linked two of the suspects to the murder of three people at Breme near Bechem in the Bono Region in March 2025.

The police indicated that efforts are underway to arrest other members of the syndicate and recover additional weapons.

The three suspects remain in custody and are assisting with investigations. They are expected to be arraigned before court.
