Isaac Appiah-Kubi, Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) West London branch, has welcomed the decision by all presidential aspirants to sign a peace pact ahead of the party’s upcoming primaries, describing it as a “welcome and responsible step” that strengthens party unity.
According to Mr. Appiah-Kubi, the move demonstrates political maturity and a shared commitment to protecting the credibility of the party.
“The decision by all presidential aspirants to sign a peace pact ahead of the party’s primaries reflects maturity and a shared commitment to safeguarding the unity and credibility of our party,” he said.
He commended the aspirants for prioritising the collective interest of the NPP over personal ambition, noting that the pact sends a strong signal about the kind of internal contest the party seeks to promote.
“This gesture sends a clear message that competition can be firm but must remain respectful, disciplined, and focused on the bigger picture,” Mr. Appiah-Kubi stated.
The NPP West London Chairman stressed that the peace pact must go beyond symbolism and be reflected in the behaviour and language of aspirants and their supporters throughout the primary process.
“A credible process depends not only on rules, but also on restraint, fairness, and responsibility from all stakeholders,” he added.
He further appealed to supporters of all aspirants to campaign responsibly and avoid actions that could undermine party cohesion.
“Support your preferred candidate with passion, but avoid insults, provocation, and misinformation. After the primaries, we remain one party with a common purpose,” he urged.
Mr. Appiah-Kubi described the primaries as a critical milestone rather than the end goal, emphasising that unity after the contest will be key to the party’s success going forward.
“How we conduct ourselves during this period will determine how quickly and effectively we can unite for the task ahead,” he said.
