NPP Presidential Election Committee Chairman Commends Police for Peaceful Primaries

The Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Election Committee, Mr. Joseph Osei Owusu, has praised the Ghana Police Service for its professionalism and effective security arrangements during the party’s recent presidential primaries.

Mr. Osei Owusu made the commendation during a courtesy visit to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, at the National Police Headquarters in Accra. He was accompanied by members of the party’s Presidential Election Committee, who formally expressed appreciation to the Police Service for its role in ensuring a peaceful and orderly electoral process.

According to Mr. Osei Owusu, the comprehensive security measures implemented by the Police before, during, and after the primaries contributed significantly to maintaining calm and public confidence throughout the exercise. He highlighted the visible presence of security personnel across the country, their effective coordination, and their neutrality as key factors that ensured the success of the internal party election.

He noted that the peaceful conduct of the primaries demonstrates the importance of professional security support in safeguarding democratic processes and strengthening political stability.

Receiving the delegation, Mr. Yohuno expressed gratitude to the committee for the recognition and reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to its constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property.

The IGP assured that the Service will continue to provide dedicated, disciplined, and professional policing to support democratic governance and national security.

The NPP recently held its presidential primaries as part of preparations towards upcoming national elections, with party leaders emphasizing unity and peaceful political engagement.
