Lawyer Charles Asmah Declares Bid for NPP-UK 1st Vice Chairman, Appeals for Members’ Support

Lawyer Charles Asmah has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of First Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP-UK), appealing to members across branches to endorse his candidacy based on his years of dedicated service and proven leadership.

Addressing the chairman, executives, branch officers and party faithful, Asmah said he was stepping forward with humility and a strong sense of duty.

“Mr Chairman, executives, branch executives and colleague patriots, I stand before you. My name is Charles Asmah. I have served you as your servant since 2012,” he stated.

Recounting his journey within the party, Asmah recalled the period following the NPP’s 2012 electoral defeat, describing it as a defining moment that required unity and sacrifice.

“When we lost the election in 2012, all of us had to come together — through demonstrations, mobilisation, collective responsibility and direction — to fight and recapture power in 2016,” he said.

He noted that in 2017 he served as Deputy Treasurer but had to assume greater responsibility when the substantive Treasurer returned to Ghana.

“In 2017, my substantive Treasurer had to go back to Ghana. I had to choose between self and you, and I chose you. I stayed behind and served as Acting Treasurer,” he recounted.

According to him, his commitment led to his appointment as Substantive Treasurer in 2018, a role he said he executed with diligence and transparency. In 2022, he was renewed with another mandate in recognition of his hard work and dedication.

“Because of dedication, hard work and tenacity, I was given another mandate in 2022,” Asmah said, adding that together with the Financial Secretary and other executives, including Prince and members of the chapter, they have prioritised accountability.

“We have worked hard to ensure that you can trust us with your money — accountability, responsibility and integrity have been our hallmark,” he stressed.

Outlining his vision as aspiring First Vice Chairman, Asmah pledged to strengthen policy engagement and enhance revenue mobilisation within the NPP-UK.

“Together with the executives, we will work harder on the policy front, work harder on revenue mobilisation, and ensure that we build a stronger, more united front,” he assured.

He further expressed confidence in the party’s prospects for the 2028 general election.

“We will work tirelessly to ensure that Dr Bawumia becomes our next President,” he declared.

Lawyer Asmah concluded by urging delegates and members to consider his track record of loyalty and service as they prepare to cast their votes, promising inclusive leadership and continued commitment to the ideals of the NPP.
