Late MP’s Widow Joins Ayawaso East NDC Primary Contest

Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, has formally filed her nomination to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary slot ahead of the March 3 by-election.

Hajia Amina Adam joins five other aspirants seeking the party’s ticket, among them Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, setting the stage for a keenly contested primary.

Speaking after filing her nomination, Hajia Amina Adam said her decision to enter the race was driven by persistent calls from constituents who urged her to step forward and continue the developmental agenda initiated by her late husband.

She noted that the encouragement and support from party faithful and residents of the constituency strengthened her resolve to serve and represent their interests in Parliament.

Supporters of Hajia Amina Adam turned out in high spirits as her nomination was officially filed, signaling what many observers expect to be a closely fought contest for the NDC ticket in the Ayawaso East by-election.
