Hon.Abena Osei Asare Congratulates Bawumia, Calls for NPP Unity Ahead of 2028

Member of Parliament for Atiwa East Constituency, Hon. Abena Osei Asare, has congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, describing the outcome as a reaffirmation of the party’s democratic credentials.

In a statement issued after the primaries, Hon. Osei Asare said the decision of delegates across the country must be respected, stressing that the process reflected the strength of the NPP as a democratic organisation.

“The delegates across our 276 constituencies have spoken clearly, and as a democratic party we must respect and honour their choice,” she stated. “The conduct and outcome of these primaries reaffirm the NPP’s strength as a credible, democratic political organisation.”

She noted that Dr. Bawumia’s victory should serve as a turning point for the party, urging members to unite and refocus their efforts on reconnecting with the Ghanaian people and rebuilding public trust.

“Dr. Bawumia’s victory must now mark a moment of renewal—one that brings unity of purpose and a renewed focus on reconnecting with the Ghanaian people and rebuilding public trust,” the Atiwa East MP said.

Hon. Osei Asare pledged her full support for the NPP flagbearer and committed herself to the collective effort required to reposition the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“I fully support our flagbearer and will work diligently to ensure the success of our collective effort,” she said. “The real task ahead is restoring confidence, offering credible solutions, and demonstrating leadership that responds to the needs and aspirations of Ghanaians.”

She further underscored the importance of the party’s core values, calling on members to recommit themselves to discipline, principle, and service to the nation.

“The NPP has always been strongest when guided by principle, discipline, and service to country. Those values must once again define our politics and our campaign,” she emphasized.

Calling for reconciliation and hard work within the party, Hon. Osei Asare expressed confidence that a united NPP could regain the trust of the electorate and secure victory in the next general election.

“This is the time for reconciliation, hard work, and clarity of purpose. United in action and guided by our shared commitment to Ghana, we can earn back trust and secure victory in 2028,” she added.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged victorious in the NPP presidential primaries following voting by delegates from all 276 constituencies nationwide, officially positioning him as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections.
