The multipurpose Hajj Village under construction near Kotoka International Airport is on track for completion by the end of 2026, according to Mawums Limited, the project contractor.
The update was provided during an on-site tour by the Board and Management of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), led by Board Chairman and Builsa North MP, James Agalga.
The contractor reported that the project is currently about 55% complete and assured the delegation that work is progressing steadily.
The Hajj Village forms part of GACL’s efforts to improve the organisation of pilgrimage operations in Ghana while creating additional non-aeronautical revenue streams for the company.
Located strategically near the airport, the facility is being developed as a world-class mixed-use complex that will serve Hajj pilgrims during the pilgrimage season and the general public year-round.
The project will feature six key amenities: residential accommodations, a clinic, a dedicated Hajj terminal, conference facilities, recreational areas, and office spaces. Beyond its role in facilitating Hajj operations, the commercial components — including residential units, conference centres, and sports facilities — will remain operational throughout the year, ensuring a sustainable income for GACL.
