The campaign team of National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary aspirant, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, has distributed television sets and food items to delegates participating in the party’s parliamentary primary in the Ayawaso East Constituency.
The team presented 32-inch television sets to delegates during the ongoing primary aimed at selecting a parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election. Boiled eggs were also shared among delegates, an exercise that briefly resulted in jostling as some voters scrambled to access the food items.

The NDC is conducting the primary following the vacancy created in the constituency, with five aspirants successfully vetted and cleared to contest the race.
The contenders include NDC Ayawaso East Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Ramme; Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament; Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed; Yakubu Azindow; and Najib Mohammed.

Reacting to concerns about the distribution of the items, Baba Jamal insisted the gesture was simply a goodwill offering and not intended to influence the voting decisions of delegates.
“Sharing the TVs is only a gift, but allowing that gift to influence your votes is what is wrong,” he told journalists.
The Ayawaso East primary is expected to determine the party’s candidate as it prepares to contest the forthcoming by-election.
