Diaspora Patriots in Ghana (DPG) has congratulated Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia on his decisive election as the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), describing his victory as a clear endorsement of his leadership and vision for the party.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Hayford Attah Krufi, DPG said Dr. Bawumia’s election reflects the confidence party delegates have reposed in him and expressed optimism about the party’s chances in the 2028 general elections.
“Dr. Bawumia’s vision, dedication, and leadership qualities have resonated strongly within the party. His election as flagbearer is a testament to the belief the NPP has in his leadership and the collective hope to recapture power in 2028,” the statement said.
The group also commended the other aspirants who contested the flagbearership race, noting that their campaigns enriched the internal democratic process and energized the party’s grassroots.
“DPG particularly acknowledges the gracious acceptance of the results by the aspirants, which demonstrates their commitment to party unity and democratic values,” the statement added.
DPG further praised NPP delegates for their discipline and orderly conduct throughout the campaign and election process, saying it reinforced the credibility of internal party democracy in Ghana.
As the party prepares for the future, the group urged NPP leadership, members, and supporters to prioritize unity and positive communication.
“This is the moment for the party to consciously speak the language of unity. The task of rebuilding, rebranding, and securing victory in 2028 will require collective purpose, discipline, and cohesion,” DPG stated.
The group called on all party stakeholders to rally behind Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s renewed vision, emphasizing that unity would be critical to the party’s success going forward.
DPG concluded by wishing Dr. Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party a successful and purposeful campaign season as preparations toward the 2028 elections begin.
