Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has expressed appreciation to the Christian Council of Ghana following a goodwill visit after his election as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 general elections.
In a post on Tuesday, Dr. Bawumia said he had the privilege of hosting a delegation from the Christian Council, led by Rev. Enoch Nii Narh Thompson, who visited to convey their congratulations, prayers, and words of encouragement following his victory in the party’s flagbearer contest.
Dr. Bawumia thanked the delegation for their prayers and kind words, describing the visit as a demonstration of the important role faith-based organisations play in national development and social cohesion.
He also reiterated his commitment to maintaining strong partnerships with faith-based institutions as part of efforts to serve the nation effectively.
The former Vice President’s election as NPP flagbearer has been widely seen as a key step toward shaping the party’s strategy ahead of the 2028 general elections, with party supporters expressing optimism about his leadership.
Dr. Bawumia has consistently emphasised collaboration between government and religious bodies, particularly in promoting moral values, social development, and national unity.
He added that he looks forward to continued engagement with religious leaders and faith-based organisations as part of his broader vision for Ghana’s development.
