Tema Central MP Charles Forson has claimed that some Ghanaians are regretting voting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) out of power, citing high fuel and food prices, unemployment and concerns over the implementation of the government’s 24-hour economy.
Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News on Tuesday, October 6, 2026, Mr Forson said the economic challenges under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government are making the NPP increasingly attractive to voters.
“That is what Ghanaians are saying. Look, we regret voting you people out. These people came and lied to us,” he said.
Mr Forson said claims of economic improvement had not translated into lower prices for consumers.
He pointed to the exchange rate, saying that although he could buy a US dollar for around GH¢12.50, the prices of imported goods remained high.
“We are an import-driven economy. We are not an export-driven economy,” he said.
The Tema Central MP also questioned the impact of the government’s 24-hour economy programme, a major campaign promise of the NDC.
“The so-called 24-hour economy, what is happening to it?” he asked, while questioning whether the programme had produced visible results in his constituency.
Mr Forson’s comments come as the NPP begins reorganising under its newly elected national executive, led by National Chairman John Boadu and General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
He said the new leadership would need to listen more, engage voters and become more proactive if the party is to regain power in 2028.
