Lawyer Charles Asmah has called for an end to what he described as political bias in Ghana’s justice system, raising concerns about the alleged unequal treatment of individuals facing corruption-related cases.
According to him, there are growing concerns over cases involving some members of the NDC administration who have faced court proceedings over alleged corruption but have subsequently been freed, while persons perceived to be affiliated with the NPP are allegedly subjected to public scrutiny and prosecution over similar allegations.
In an interview with Akua- Piesie, Lawyer Asmah questioned the fairness and consistency in the application of the law, stressing that justice must not depend on a person’s political affiliation.
He argued that all individuals accused of wrongdoing should be treated equally and subjected to the same legal processes, regardless of whether they belong to the governing party or the opposition.
The lawyer’s comments come amid ongoing public debate over corruption investigations and prosecutions involving politicians and public officials.
He urged state institutions responsible for administering justice to uphold fairness, transparency and impartiality to preserve public confidence in Ghana’s judicial system.
“Stop political bias in the justice system,” Lawyer Charles Asmah said, insisting that the rule of law must apply equally to everyone.
