The Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Adam Mohammed Samba, has thrown his weight behind the National Chairman ambition of Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, declaring that supporting him is key to the party’s return to power in 2028.
Chairman Wontumi continues to receive overwhelming endorsement from party grassroots across the country as delegates and executives rally behind his bid to lead the party at the national level.
During a meeting with party executives in Tamale, the capital of the Northern Region, the growing momentum behind his campaign was evident as party faithful expressed strong enthusiasm and readiness to work towards rebuilding the party ahead of the next general elections.
Welcoming the Ashanti Regional Chairman to the region, Chairman Adam Mohammed Samba said the party in the Northern Region has reflected on its performance in the 2024 general elections and is determined to correct the mistakes that contributed to what he described as an abysmal outcome.
According to him, Chairman Wontumi possesses the leadership qualities needed to reposition the party and lead it back to victory.
“Voting for Chairman Wontumi is voting for power in 2028. It will tell us that we are ready to return to power,” Chairman Samba stated.
He described Wontumi as a vibrant, energetic, visionary and practical leader who has demonstrated a strong ability to mobilize support and win political power.
“Our ultimate aim as a party is to bring power back to the NPP, and if this vibrant, energetic, visionary and practical man has shown how to win power, it is only wise we back him to lead us to victory,” he added.
The meeting with executives of the Northern Region forms part of Chairman Wontumi’s nationwide engagement with party stakeholders. The Northern Region is the tenth region he has visited so far as he continues consultations ahead of the party’s internal elections.
He was accompanied by several party stalwarts including Lawyer Kwame Adom Appiah, Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NPP; Justice Appiah, First Vice Chairman of the Ahafo Region; Bono East Regional Secretary David Boakye; and former Bosome-Freho District Chief Executive, Hon. Yaw Danso.
Also present were Chairman Karikari John, Effiduase-Asokore Constituency Chairman, and other high-ranking members of the party.
