NPP UK Branch chairmanship hopeful Isaac Appiah Kubi has pledged to restore unity, strengthen institutional structures and introduce comprehensive welfare reforms as part of his vision to reposition the party’s overseas branch for greater effectiveness and electoral preparedness.
Addressing members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nottingham, the West London Chairman underscored the urgent need for strategic reforms within the party, arguing that the challenges confronting the organization are deeply rooted in structural deficiencies.
“We are in serious trouble and our issues are structural,” he stated, echoing concerns raised by senior party members during the gathering.
Kubi emphasized that overcoming the party’s difficulties would require a fundamental shift in mindset and approach. Quoting renowned physicist Albert Einstein, he noted that meaningful change could only occur through new ways of thinking.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them,” he said.
He cautioned party members against divisive internal politics and factional allegiances, stressing that such tendencies undermine collective progress. According to him, the party’s recent electoral setbacks were partly attributable to internal disunity.
“About 1.6 million NPP supporters did not vote because we were not together,” Kubi remarked. “We cannot continue to campaign for individuals simply because we supported them previously. That approach will not solve our problems.”
Kubi explained that his decision to contest the NPP UK Branch chairmanship stems from his long-standing belief in the party’s capacity to transform Ghana’s socio-economic fortunes.
“I have always believed that the NPP is the only political party capable of changing the fortunes of our country,” he said. “But achieving that requires strong and purposeful leadership.”
Outlining his vision for the branch, Kubi presented a five-point agenda centered on unity, robust institutional structures, financial independence, member welfare and electoral preparedness.
“Everything rises and falls on leadership,” he told party members while appealing for their support.
A key pillar of his campaign, he explained, is the establishment of a comprehensive and data-driven welfare framework designed to ensure that all members benefit from structured support mechanisms.
“You cannot effectively address welfare concerns without a proper formal framework,” he noted.
As part of this initiative, Kubi announced plans to introduce PACS – Patriot Guarantee Loans, a financial support scheme aimed at assisting members who may require economic backing.
He also proposed the creation of specialized professional networks within the party to support members in areas such as immigration, finance and entrepreneurship.
“We have lawyers, accountants and professionals within our ranks. If we bring them together under a coordinated system, members will be able to access the support and expertise they need,” he explained.
Beyond welfare reforms, Kubi placed significant emphasis on the need to build a stronger institutional framework for the NPP UK Branch. He argued that the absence of a central administrative structure has limited the branch’s capacity to effectively coordinate activities across its numerous chapters.
“How can we run such a premium brand in this manner?” he asked.
To address this gap, he proposed the establishment of a permanent party office that would oversee operations, provide administrative continuity and support the activities of chapters across the United Kingdom.
According to him, a well-organized structure is essential for sustained political success.
“Structure produces predictability, and predictability produces results,” Kubi stated.
He concluded his address by appealing for the support of party members, pledging to lead the branch with humility, inclusiveness and a commitment to listening to the concerns of all members.
“I want to serve you in the greatest humility, with love and with listening ears,” he said.
