Enchi Hospital Mortuary, Agyapa Funeral Home Closed by MoFFA for Regulatory Breaches

The Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency (MoFFA) has temporarily shut down the Enchi Government Hospital Mortuary and Agyapa Funeral Home in the Western North Region for operating in violation of regulatory standards.

The closure follows an ongoing compliance exercise being conducted across mortuaries and funeral facilities in the region by a team led by the Registrar of the Mortuaries and Funeral Facilities Agency, Francis Ennin.

During the inspection, the team uncovered several irregularities at the affected facilities. These included operating without the required registration, the use of air conditioners instead of standard compressors for body preservation, the engagement of unregistered staff, and maintaining an environment deemed unsuitable for mortuary operations.

As a result, the agency ordered the immediate temporary shutdown of the facilities until they address the identified issues and comply fully with the established regulations.

Mr. Ennin explained that the compliance exercise is not intended to shut down businesses but rather to ensure proper regulation and maintain high standards within the mortuary and funeral services sector.

He therefore urged operators of mortuaries and funeral facilities to strictly adhere to the agency’s guidelines to guarantee safe, professional, and regulated services.
