U.S. Embassy in Accra Releases Over 2,000 Visa Appointment Slots for Travellers

The United States Embassy in Accra has announced the release of more than 2,000 visa appointment slots for applicants seeking B1/B2 visas over the next two weeks, creating new opportunities for Ghanaians planning short-term travel to the United States.

The newly opened appointment dates are intended for individuals travelling for business engagements, tourism, family visits, and participation in major international events, including the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

In a public notice, the U.S. Embassy urged prospective travellers to act quickly to secure available interview dates, noting the continued high demand for U.S. visitor visas in Ghana and across the region. Applicants who already have appointments scheduled later in the year have also been encouraged to log into the visa scheduling system and reschedule to earlier available dates where possible.

The Embassy explained that the initiative is part of efforts to reduce visa appointment backlogs and improve flexibility for travellers with time-sensitive travel plans. The B1/B2 visa category allows temporary travel to the United States for business meetings, tourism, medical visits, and family-related trips.

Demand for U.S. visitor visas has remained consistently high in recent years as more Ghanaians pursue opportunities for international travel, education, business, and cultural exchange.

Applicants interested in securing one of the newly released slots or rescheduling existing appointments can visit the U.S. Embassy’s official visa information portal at https://gh.usembassy.gov/visas/ for full guidance, requirements, and application procedures.
