Kwaku Bimpeh, a hopeful for the position of NPP UK Branch Secretary, has outlined his vision for strengthening internal administration, training, and programme coordination within the party’s UK structures.
Speaking to members at the Hull Chapter meeting, Mr. Bimpeh expressed appreciation for the confidence members have shown in him, noting that his past contributions to the Branch earned him strong support during internal elections.
“Many of you are key witnesses to the effective work I have done for the Branch over the years, which is why over 250 of our members voted for me in the last elections,” he said.
Mr. Bimpeh, however, apologised for his absence at the meeting, explaining that his inability to attend was due to circumstances beyond his control. He used the opportunity to share key aspects of his vision for the Secretariat if elected.
Focus on Training and Role Clarity
The NPP UK Branch Secretary hopeful stressed the urgent need for structured training programmes to help clarify responsibilities among executives at both Branch and Chapter levels.
“There is an urgent need for effective training to align roles and responsibilities to reduce conflicts among executives,” he said. “All executives must clearly know their exact duties so that one person does not end up doing another person’s job. This can be achieved through continuous and effective training.”
Mr. Bimpeh, who described himself as a teacher and lecturer, said capacity building comes naturally to him and will be a key pillar of his leadership approach.
“As a teacher and a lecturer, training comes naturally to me. I believe in building people’s capacity to strengthen organisational performance,” he added.
Programme Coordination and Safety Concerns
He also highlighted the need to harmonise party programmes to avoid scheduling multiple events on the same day, describing the practice as costly and risky for members who travel between events.
“There is the urgent need to harmonise programmes to reduce multiple programmes on the same day,” he said. “There is no reason to take too much risk driving from one programme to another, sometimes facing severe penalties, spending more money than necessary, and putting lives at risk.”
Commitment to Effective Mobilisation
Mr. Bimpeh further pledged to work closely with members to establish a reliable Branch calendar to help streamline activities and improve mobilisation efforts.
“I will work hard with all of you to put in place an effective Branch calendar to monitor and manage this key part of our mobilisation,” he stated.
He expressed optimism about engaging members further on his vision in the coming days and called for unity and collaboration within the party structures.
“I look forward to talking to you more about my vision as we continue to build a stronger and more effective Branch together,” he concluded.
