President John Dramani Mahama is set to deliver the 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Friday, February 27, in Parliament.
The annual address is expected to provide a comprehensive account of Ghana’s current state of affairs, highlighting progress made over the past year while outlining the government’s key policy priorities and strategic direction for 2026.
According to parliamentary sources, the President will focus on critical sectors of the economy, including fiscal performance, job creation, and industrial growth. He is also anticipated to speak on developments in health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure, as well as Ghana’s foreign policy engagements and international commitments.
The address comes at a time when the government is pursuing major initiatives aimed at boosting industrialisation, strengthening social protection systems, and accelerating infrastructure development.
Beyond its political and policy significance, the State of the Nation Address is a constitutional requirement under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution. The provision mandates the President to attend Parliament at the beginning of each session and deliver a message on the state of the nation.
