Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club PLC has firmly stated that midfielder Hamza Issah remains under a valid and legally binding contract with the club, dismissing claims that his agreement has been lawfully terminated.
In an official statement dated February 18, 2026, the management of the Phobia club said there has been no ruling from any competent judicial, regulatory, or arbitral body to nullify the player’s contract.
“Accra Hearts of Oak SC affirms, without ambiguity, that Mr. Hamza Issah remains under a valid and legally binding employment contract with the Club,” the statement said.
The club stressed that “no competent judicial, regulatory, or arbitral body, including the Ghana Football Association’s Player Status Committee (GFA-PSC) or FIFA, has issued any ruling or confirmation that the said contract has been lawfully terminated.”
Hearts of Oak further rejected suggestions that the club had defaulted on its financial obligations to the player in a manner that would justify a unilateral termination under FIFA regulations.
“Contrary to circulating speculation, the Club has not defaulted persistently or materially on its financial obligations in a manner that would constitute ‘just cause’ for unilateral termination under the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players,” management stated.
According to the club, it held two separate meetings with the player following correspondence from his representatives and acted “in good faith to address and resolve all outstanding concerns.”
The Rainbow Club also condemned what it described as the unauthorized disclosure of confidential correspondence by the player’s representatives, labelling the act as “unprofessional, misleading, and inconsistent with established ethical and regulatory standards governing football administration.”
In a further twist, Hearts of Oak accused South African side Siwele Football Club of engaging the player without the club’s knowledge or consent.
The club expressed alarm at what it termed as “player inducement and unlawful interference with a subsisting contractual relationship,” alleging that Siwele FC issued an invitation and facilitated travel arrangements despite the existence of an active contract.
Hearts of Oak disclosed that it has lodged formal complaints against ProSports International and Siwele Football Club with FIFA and other relevant authorities.
“We are actively pursuing all available legal and regulatory remedies to protect the integrity of the Club and the sanctity of contractual relationships in football,” the statement added.
The club reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, transparency and regulatory compliance, urging supporters and the general public to rely only on information from its official communication channels.
The development sets the stage for a potential legal battle as the club seeks to defend what it describes as the integrity and stability of contractual agreements within football.
