Bawumia: Democracy Must Never Be Reduced to Vengeance

New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has urged Ghanaians to rise above partisan politics, stressing that democracy should never be a platform for revenge.

Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, Dr. Bawumia emphasized unity, national service, and personal responsibility. “If you do not focus on how people oppose you have offended you, you will be able to see that Ghana is bigger than any political party. Our democracy must never be reduced to vengeance,” he said.

The Vice President-turned-presidential candidate called on citizens to contribute their best efforts toward nation-building. “Our nation requires the best efforts that each of us can put up. It requires that we all give the best of our ideas, our sweat and our sacrifice to build the nation our forebears envisioned,” he added.

Highlighting the importance of patience, humility, and dedication, Dr. Bawumia noted: “There is work to be done, serious work, the kind of work that requires patience, listening, learning and showing up, even when the applause is absent. The kind of work that places the country before comfort and duty before ego, I pledge.”

He concluded with a heartfelt prayer, appealing for national healing and guidance: “May God heal our party, may God heal our nation, and may God grant us the wisdom and strength to serve Ghana with integrity, courage and love.”

The National Thanksgiving Service drew political leaders, religious figures, and citizens from across the country, providing a reflective space for unity and commitment to Ghana’s democratic ideals.
