Haruna Iddrisu Discharged After Bolgatanga–Tumu Road Crash

The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has been discharged from the 37 Military Hospital following a road traffic accident earlier this week.

In a statement issued on Saturday, February 14, 2026, the Ministry of Education confirmed that the Minister had successfully completed medical treatment and has been advised to rest as part of his recovery.

“The Office of the Honourable Minister for Education announces that Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has been discharged from the 37 Military Hospital following a road traffic accident,” the statement said.

According to the Ministry, the Minister is in good spirits and responding well after the incident.

“He is in good spirits and has been advised to rest as part of his recovery,” the statement added.

Hon. Iddrisu also expressed appreciation to the medical staff at the 37 Military Hospital for their professionalism and care. He further thanked Ghanaians for their prayers, messages of support and goodwill during the period.

The Incident

The Education Minister and the Deputy Minister for Communications and Digital Technology, Mohammed Adams Sukparu, were involved in a road crash on the Bolgatanga–Tumu Road on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

The two Ministers and their teams were travelling to the Upper West Region to participate in official engagements when the accident occurred.

They were on their way to mark the 40th anniversary celebrations of Tumu College of Education and Jahan College of Education at the time of the incident.
