The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, has disbursed the first term feeding grants to caterers under the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) across all 16 regions of the country.
The payment covers 74 cooking days for the first term of the 2025/2026 academic year, which commenced on September 2, 2025. The grant was released at a rate of GH¢2 per child for each school day, in line with the programme’s approved feeding structure.
In a statement issued by the Public Relations Directorate of the GSFP, authorities indicated that the payments were made based on the number of days caterers successfully provided meals to beneficiary pupils during the term.
The Secretariat further advised caterers who may have concerns or challenges regarding the disbursement to promptly report to their respective Regional Coordinators for swift resolution.
The GSFP also commended the government for the timely release of funds, describing it as a significant step towards ensuring the smooth implementation of the programme.
The statement additionally praised caterers for their patience, cooperation, and continued dedication to providing meals to thousands of beneficiary school children across the country.
The Ghana School Feeding Programme remains a key government intervention aimed at improving school enrolment, attendance, and retention while enhancing the nutritional status of pupils in public basic schools.
