NDC Set to Retain Ayawaso East Seat in March By-Election – Global InfoAnalytics

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is well-positioned to retain the Ayawaso East parliamentary seat in the March 2026 by-election, according to a new opinion poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics.

The survey indicates that either of the two leading contenders in the NDC’s parliamentary primary would defeat the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate in a direct contest. In one scenario, Hajia Amina Adams, widow of the late MP, commands 73% of voter support against the NPP’s Baba Ali. In another, fellow NDC aspirant Baba Jamal secures 67% compared to Baba Ali’s 33%.

The findings were made public by Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, in a Facebook post on Thursday, February 5.

The poll also examined voter preferences within the NDC ahead of its primary. Hajia Amina Adams leads the internal race with 58% support, followed by Baba Jamal with 32%. Other aspirants – Muhammed Ramne (5%), Dr Yakubu Azindow (3%), and Najib Muhammed Sani (2%) – lag behind significantly.

“The NDC enters the by-election season with a strong advantage in Ayawaso East, both internally and in its contest against the opposition,” the survey report noted.

The Ayawaso East seat fell vacant following the passing of the late MP, prompting the upcoming by-election.
