Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has officially declared his intention to contest for the position of National Chairman of the party.
In a declaration of intent, Chairman Wontumi stated that his decision comes after extensive consultation with party elders, the youth, and spiritual reflection. According to him, the party currently requires strong, principled, and unifying leadership to reposition it for future electoral success.
“Our party has faced challenges and learned hard lessons along the way. At this critical moment, the NPP demands leadership that is steady, principled, and committed to unity,” he said.
Chairman Wontumi emphasized that his ambition is not driven by personal interest but by his desire to rebuild and strengthen the party’s structures, particularly at the grassroots level. He described himself as a grassroots-oriented leader who values the contribution of every party member, from senior figures to young supporters.
“I declare my intention to serve as National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party not for personal ambition, but to strengthen, rebuild, and unify our great party,” he added.
He noted that the party’s future would require bold leadership capable of making difficult decisions to secure victory in the 2028 general elections. He expressed confidence in the party’s ability to reorganize and regain the trust of supporters across the country.
“The road ahead will demand vision, courage, and unwavering determination. We are ready, we are organized, and we are built for the battle ahead,” Chairman Wontumi stated.
He further pledged to restore confidence in the party and empower its grassroots base to ensure electoral victory in the next general election.
Chairman Wontumi concluded his declaration with a message of unity and hope, urging party members to work together to rebuild the NPP.
“The NPP will rise again — together. God bless the New Patriotic Party, God bless our democracy, and God bless our motherland, Ghana,” he said.
Chairman Wontumi currently serves as the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party and is widely regarded as an influential figure within the party’s organizational structure.
