Birmingham NPP-UK Chapter Congratulates Dr. Bawumia on Flagbearer Victory, Calls for Party Unity

The Birmingham Chapter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP-UK) has congratulated Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his victory in the party’s flagbearership election held on January 31, 2026.

In an official statement signed by Prince Kwadwo Osei, Chairman of the Chapter, popularly known as Chairman One-In-Town, and Dr. Emmanuel Kuffour, the Chapter described Dr. Bawumia’s victory as a major win for the NPP and the entire “Elephant family.”

The Chapter commended all contestants who participated in the race for their courage and commitment to the party, and also praised party stakeholders, particularly the Presidential Elections Committee, for what it described as an excellent and transparent organization of the election.

While celebrating the victory, the Birmingham Chapter emphasized the need for unity ahead of the 2028 general elections. It reminded Dr. Bawumia of his campaign promise to unite the party and encouraged him to create an inclusive environment that welcomes ideas from all party members, including those proposed by other aspirants during the contest.

The statement further urged party members to exercise restraint in their celebrations, cautioning that inflammatory comments, ridicule, or excessive triumphalism could deepen divisions within the party.

“January 31 was not the end, but rather the beginning of a bigger task ahead,” the statement noted, adding that the true test of patriotism would be the willingness of all contestants to honour their pledge to support the eventual winner.

The Birmingham Chapter reaffirmed its unwavering support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and pledged to work closely with the broader NPP-UK structure to help secure victory for the party in 2028.
